Adult Adhd Assessment
Let’s be honest—modern life is a lot.
In a fast paced world, between constant notifications, endless to-do lists, and the pressure to juggle it all without dropping the ball, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed.
Maybe you’re struggling to focus, losing track of things, or constantly feeling like you’re behind. Maybe you feel chaotic and like you can’t seem to work out how to sequence tasks and “…get things done like other people can?” You might wonder, “Is something wrong with me?” and “Is there something I can do to function better?
Could it be that you’re impacted by the effects of undiagnosed ADHD? symptoms of trauma? or a mix of co-occurring factors all having an effect?
An ADHD assessment can help bring clarity to the chaos and once you understand how your brain works, you can also work out what you need to really thrive.
Why is an Adult ADHD Assessment helpful?
Clarity on What’s Really Going On
Is it ADHD? Burnout? Trauma? Or the result of living in an overstimulating world? Hormonal health? Brain Injury? any number of possibilities.
An assessment helps differentiate between these possibilities, so you can stop guessing and self diagnosing.
Understanding How Your Brain Works
If you do have ADHD, the assessment will help you understand your strengths and challenges. It’s like getting a user manual for your brain—one that’s personalized just for you.
Tailored Strategies and Support
Once you know what’s going on, you can start building tools that actually work for you. Whether it’s practical coping strategies, lifestyle tweaks, therapy and/or trauma work, you’ll have a clearer path forward.
Peace of Mind
Sometimes, just knowing what’s happening beneath the surface can ease the frustration, the self-blame and self rejection. An assessment offers relief by giving you answers—and often, that’s the first step toward real change.
What if it is NOT ADHD?
That’s okay, too. An assessment can provide a ‘differential diagnosis’ which can help rule out ADHD and highlight other factors that might be contributing to your struggles.
No matter what, you’ll walk away with a clearer understanding of yourself and what support could help.
STEPS IN THE PROCESS
COSTS
The Initial Intake Session costs $210/hr and provided the Mental Health Care Plan identifies the need for an Intake for a possible ADHD assessment, then a Medicare Rebate of $96.65 is payable for this Initial session.
If, following the Initial Intake session, an ADHD assessment is recommended, a one-time fee of $600 applies in addition to standard appointment costs.
This fee covers the time taken outside of sessions reviewing materials and conducting an evaluation. This fee is payable after the initial Intake appointment and must be settled before proceeding with the assessment. Once the process has begun, this fee is non-refundable.
While this $600 fee is not eligible for a Medicare rebate, rebates may be available for the sessions booked for the assessment.
Typically, ADHD assessments are completed over two sessions following the initial Intake session, though in some cases, additional time may be required.
ASSESSMENT DOCUMENTATION
As part of every ADHD assessment, I provide a clinical summary outlining the assessment process and the reasoning behind the diagnostic decision.
These documents are intended for use by healthcare professionals and are already included in the $600 assessment fee.
Additionally, if you require a basic confirmation letter stating whether or not an ADHD diagnosis was made, this is also covered in the fee.
PLEASE NOTE:
If a more detailed, formalized assessment report—such as those used for cognitive, NDIS or educational purposes—is required, it is best to contact another provider as Melissa does not provide those extra assessments at this time.
For most individuals undergoing an ADHD assessment, a formal report is unnecessary, as the standard clinical documentation provided is sufficient.
If you are curious about whether an assessment could help, let's start by booking an initial appointment. It could be the first step toward finding your focus and feeling more at ease in your own mind.
